Neighbors of the affected areas complain about the inaction of the administration and the lack of information of the contemplated projects to mitigate the effects of future floods like the one of 2012. They have also denounced the dumping of tons of mud in the Camino de Cabalgadores and another asbestos after a fire of a ship next to the cemetery
Pedro Sosa, a spokesman for Izquierda Unida Verdes in the municipality of Lorca, has echoed several lawsuits and complaints that have been moved by the residents of Torrecilla and Campillo.
The first and most urgent as they said in a meeting that he had with them last week, is their deep concern because of the measures announced to them after the ill-fated flood of 2012 that cost the lives of five people, such as the construction of dams lamination of avenues in the headwaters of the ravines and artificial canals that flushed the water from the Rambla de Béjar, not only have not been carried out, but from Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura (CHS) are not given information about .
Faced with this lack of information, Sosa announced that a motion will be taken with the neighbors to reach the next plenary meeting to find out at what stage all these projects are and for the constitution of a body that has them regularly informed about them.
Sosa has directly blamed the CHS as the great culprit of the damage caused by this flood, because for many years did not do anything against all illegal actions committed in the channels of the boulevards that have altered the natural course of the waterways.
Another complaint that the neighbors have moved has been the dumping of tons of mud and plastics from a raft to the Camino de Cabalgadores, made according to them by a councilor of the PP of Puerto Lumbreras and who has occupied hundreds of meters of said road turning it into a landfill, which in Sosa's opinion, is a criminal act and an authentic shame, both the act itself, and the concealment of the mayor of Lorca Ángel Meca, who, knowing of its existence, has not made any complaint about it, so has asked for the resignation of both.
Another concern of the neighbors is how they will affect the future layout of the AVE by its districts, so the mayor of the left has said they will organize a day on February 22 to discuss this and other details of his arrival in Lorca.
Finally, Sosa has warned that after the fire of a ship located in the vicinity of the cemetery of Lorca, whose roof was made of uralite, a large amount of asbestos remains have been scattered throughout the area, for which he has brought to the attention of Urbanism and SEPRONA to take decontamination measures, since in its vicinity there are, in addition to many homes, the Hospital, the school of La Torrecilla and sports courts.
