This new infrastructure, in accordance with the data contained in the technical reports, will occupy a complete block in the historical center that has an area of about 2,000 m2 bounded by the streets Selgas, Galdo, Paradores and Palmera de Uceta
The Mayor of Lorca Fulgencio Gil, has reported that the Department of Urban Planning has already submitted to the Government of Spain the definitive building permit for the construction of the Palace of Justice, once signed by Saturnina Martinez, the councilor of this area of management.
The First Edil stressed that this is excellent news for all Lorca, with special emphasis on professionals in the field of Justice.
This new infrastructure, according to the information contained in the technical reports, will occupy a complete block in the historical center, with an area of 2,000 m2, delimited by the streets Selgas, Galdo, Paradores and Palmera de Uceta.
We can anticipate that the project includes the maintenance of several pre-existing facades of great architectural value.
Efforts have therefore been made to offer a suitable architectural integration with the environment, both from the volumetric point of view and in the choice of finishes.
The building will have a total constructed area of over 10,000 m2 developed in the basement, ground, first, second, third and undercover floors.
The building will house the 9 judicial bodies currently existing in the city and foresees its possible future expansion.
The Mayor said that we are talking about achieving a key historical milestone, which responds to the joint claim of the professional groups of justice in Lorca and that this Municipal Executive has managed before the different administrations to get the firm commitment of the Government of Spain.
We have achieved a new victory for Lorca and for all Lorca that we can congratulate today.
Fulgencio Gil has stated that the construction of this infrastructure, which has a budget of 10 million euros, is decisive in the project we are developing in our city.
The Lorca are carrying out the battery of investments and improvements more extensive in history, achieving a strong Lorca and that counts every time with more energy.
We have a municipality project that will enjoy a long journey, whose horizon goes beyond 2025 with serious vocation for the future.
Within this new Lorca the construction of the Palace of Justice is a real milestone.
In this way our subregional capital increases its strength, while the weight of Lorca as head of the county and unquestionable reference in and outside the Region of Murcia, increases thanks to the joint effort of our society.
Fulgencio Gil explained that lifting a new and strong Lorca happens to provide us with the infrastructure that Lorca deserve in all aspects.
We are talking about security (barracks of the Civil Guard, new police station and Integral Security Center), comprehensive renovation of neighborhoods (San José, La Viña, Alfonso X ...), communications (evacuation round, underground passage of Santa Clara, roads with parishes ...), and we also need a space of guarantees for the exercise of legal activity.
It should be remembered that the execution period for this work, which in principle was to be 4 years, was reduced by half at the request of the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, a claim that had the understanding and special sensitivity of the Ministry of Justice.
The First Edil has stressed that the new Palace of Justice that we are going to equip ourselves with, which guarantees space for our judicial offices during a period of at least 50 years, constitutes a very particular case within the panorama of this type of infrastructure, since Lorca It is the only city where a unified judicial office is currently being built in the heart of the historic case, including an ambitious task of recovering the monumental heritage, an advantage to which the integral improvement of Selgas Street must be added.
An impulse to give activity to the historic center.
The construction of the Palace of Justice will unify in the same enclave all the services in this regard, putting an end to the dispersion of venues that currently exist.
The reality is that after suffering the serious effects of the earthquakes of 2011, Lorca has managed to raise its monumental heritage from the rubble and ruin.
In parallel we promote the celebration of multiple events in the heart of the historic center, and now, with the materialization of the Palace of Justice, a definitive step is taken in this regard.
It is about getting movement, life and improvement to this area, while satisfying a joint demand of the group of professionals of Justice.
