Pedro Sosa, councilor spokesman of IU-V in the municipality of Lorca, has proposed this morning at a press conference a measure that would mean a saving of 20% in the electricity expenditure of the municipality, which would amount to about € 700,000 per year That is, we would spend from around 3,500,000 euros that are currently paid, to about 2,800,000.
This measure, which is already being applied by other municipalities such as Rivas Vaciamadrid, Avilés or Canfránc, consists in acquiring directly the energy in the wholesale market auctions, through a company that would act as an intermediary.
Therefore, the mayor has informed that they will bring to Lorca his group partner in the city of Rivas Vaciamadrid, Sira Rego, to explain how they manage the purchase of this resource there and carry it out in our city.
Sosa has criticized the local PP that its conservative policies in favor of the big electric companies result in an economic loss for our municipality, since last year proposed through a motion that energy be acquired through a central office of hiring the FEMP (Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces), which would have meant a decrease in the cost of the electric bill of 8% (€ 284,000 a year), which was not achieved, because despite having approved the motion, they never started the procedures for it.
Finally, he has criticized the systematic rejection of the amendments that his group submits year after year to the tax ordinances aimed at taxing more taxes to banks, electricity companies or mobile phone companies, as if the government team was getting more worried about maintaining the colossal benefits of large companies, that in looking for the maximum benefit for Lorca.
