The Councilor for Tourism in the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, reported that tomorrow Saturday, February 24, at 5:00 pm, with a guided tour of the city "Lorca Sephardi: Yesterday and Today", you can know what they are the traces of Jewish culture in Lorca from the Middle Ages to today.
The starting point will be the Visitor Center of Lorca and the tour will start by the hand of an official guide of the Region of Murcia in the Municipal Archaeological Museum, to know the archaeological remains found in the excavations of the Lorca Jewish quarter and its synagogue and admire the archaeological pieces of his room dedicated to the Jewish heritage, ceramic tableware, metal utensils, written documents, plasterwork, hanukkiyot and part of the collection of lamps that illuminated the synagogue, reconstructed from multiple fragments of glass.
We will continue the guided tour with a tour of two of the embroidery museums of Holy Week (MUBBLA and MASS), declared of International Tourist Interest, to know the close relationship between some Jewish biblical passages and the images represented in the silk embroidered mantles and gold with the Lorca embroidery technique, which is currently proposed to achieve the declaration of Intangible Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO.
Jewish culture has been linked to Lorca since the Middle Ages.
To complete the overall vision of the Jewish heritage in this city, you can take a guided tour of the Castle Archaeological Park and the Synagogue, which can be visited every day of the year, in the morning or afternoon.
