La Junquera cove has been designated to be able to perform nudism, while Play Larga is seen as a space enabled for the presence of pets.
The Councilor for Town Planning and Environment in the City of Lorca, Satur Martínez, reported that the Town Hall Plenary has approved definitively today the Municipal Ordinance regulating the correct use of the beaches of the coast, which is the first document in that sense approved by the local administration in the history of the municipality.
It is a text that includes, among other issues, the establishment of zones for the practice of nudism and for the presence of pets.
In the first case, the designated cove is La Junquera, while in the second it has been Playa Larga.
Satur Martinez explained that we are talking about a flexible document that we wanted to be "the Ordinance of all", incorporating the contributions of citizens.
The municipal text orders the use of the beaches of the Lorca littoral.
The City Council, at the express request of the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil, has incorporated into this Ordinance the authorization of spaces for the practice of naturism and the presence of pets, respecting the environmental protection criteria established for the Lorca beaches as a natural park.
The Environment Minister stressed that this approval is the result of a broad participation process, in the course of which the City Council has encouraged all interested parties to participate, remaining open to any social group or citizens in particular to transfer their proposals in this matter.
Satur Martinez has confirmed that the goal is that all Lorca can feel totally identified with our beaches and the use we want to make them.
In fact, and to clear any doubt about it, we wanted this document to be flexible, participatory and open, so that it is the Ordinance of all, collecting all the suggestions that have been transferred to us.
The Councilor stressed that it is very positive to talk about our beaches again and that the focus of public attention is on a space of great beauty and natural wealth.
It is interesting that we talk about our beaches and make themselves known.
It should be remembered that, thanks to the work of conservation, cleanliness and tourism promotion that has been developing over the last few years, this year, and for the first time in the history of the municipality, we have managed to get Cala de Calnegre recognized with the award of Blue flag.
We Lorca enjoy a coastline of pristine beaches, constituting one of the most outstanding examples of the entire Spanish Mediterranean to the effect.
Lorca has a stretch of coastline that extends over 9 km composed of 13 beaches: Playa Larga, Cala Blanca, Playa de los Hierros, Cala Leña, Cala de la Gruta, Playa Junquera, Playa del Cuartel del Ciscar, Cala Honda, San Pedro Beach, Siscal Beach, Baño de las Mujeres Beach, Calnegre Beach and Puntes de Calnegre Beach.
