The councilor of this training, Gloria Martin, warned that the work could not get to run if the PP does not resume the project quickly because its financing depends on the loan from the European Investment Bank so it should be completed by December 2018
The councilor of United Left, Gloria Martin, has denounced today the delay of almost three years in the tender of the Caravaca road settlement at its entrance to Lorca and that the PP promised to execute in 2016 with an investment of 1,026,810 euros with charge to the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Martín recalled that, in April 2016, the general director of Roads, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, and the then mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jódar, met with the residents of the Rio de la Diputación to collect their proposals for the actions of conditioning and remodeling that was planned to be carried out on the RM-711 highway, but since then "those affected have never heard anything again".
The project and direction of the work corresponds to the City of Lorca, so Martin demanded that from the Consistory is made known in what state is that project, taking into account that the deadline to execute works under the loan of the EIB ends in December of this year, when the second extension will be exhausted.
In this regard, Martin recalled that the loan of 185 million euros - granted in 2012 - are still pending to invest some 60 million euros "that can be lost if the City does not do their homework."
In that sense, the mayor of IU-Greens demanded explanations about the "paralysis" of a work "that should have started two years ago" and that it runs "a certain risk" of getting lost
The proposal for the remodeling of the entrance to Lorca along the Caravaca road included the roundabout on the Zarzadilla de Totana road to the Eulogio Periago and San Fernando streets in the San Cristóbal neighborhood, as well as the improvement of the stretch of the old road of the Pantano that goes from said intersection to the nave of the Incarnate Pass.
The action consisted in the improvement of the exit roundabouts to the A7 motorway and its ditches, the reinforcement of the road signs, the construction of roundabouts at the intersection of the facilities of the Olcina company and another one in La Peńica, the creation of a bicycle lane, the rearrangement of the car parks, and the increase of trees and vegetation.
The project will also include the renovation of the public lighting system in order to improve the energy-efficient lighting of LED technology.
In addition, the works included the resurfacing of the RM-C15 highway, known as the Pantano, next to which a bicycle lane compatible with pedestrian use will be built (as a greenway), and lighting and road signs would be improved. .
