IU-V reproaches the Mayor for promoting a lockout in Lorca and offers a day of celebration to municipal officials who want to go to Madrid demonstration
The municipal spokesman of IU-V, Pedro Sosa, has denounced this morning the attitude of the Mayor of Lorca in relation to the demonstration that tomorrow have convened in Madrid the agroindustrial entrepreneurs of the Region of Murcia in demand of more water for the Region.
Sosa has affirmed in the first place that the current hydric situation of Lorca and the Region of Murcia, and of all the Spanish east, is consequence of the policies that in this respect the PP has deployed for years.
They govern Lorca, the Region of Murcia, Spain and even Europe.
That's why it surprises that the PP joins a demonstration that demands more water for the fields of Lorca.
More water from where, and we ask who, and we ask which governments ... These are the questions that the Mayor must answer before joining any demonstration.
Gil Jódar, Pedro Sosa points out, belongs to a political party that "does not quite arrive" and that is directly responsible for the policy that has been made in the last decades in the matter of water, so the deficits that could be, imbalances that manifest, the extraordinary extension of the intensive irrigation in our land with illegal burns, and many other issues in the matter of water are the responsibility of the PP.
On the other hand, the spokesman of IU-V insists that there is nothing more inefficient for Lorca's development than to continue trying to sustain his entire productive economic model based exclusively on a resource that is not available and that must be demanded, with little success as we see, of others who are not willing to let go.
This is also done by forgetting productive sectors with more added value and having converted the municipality of Lorca into an industrial desert.
If this is not seen by the Mayor, it would be advisable to change as soon as possible from the Mayor.
Finally, he has considered it very unfortunate that the Mayor of Lorca offers a day of celebration to public officials and workers of the City of Lorca in exchange for signing up for the Madrid demonstration.
After March 7 comes March 8, says Sosa, and there is an international women's strike that, we suppose, will not have the same support from the Mayor of Lorca.
The strike is a right of the workers and those who make them see their monthly salary decrease in the day's wage of that strike day.
In our country there have been general strikes of workers and also sectoral strikes of officials and never has this City Council forgiven the salary of those who seconded them.
