A delegation of the PSOE de Lorca, headed by Diego José Mateos has moved to Madrid in support of the irrigators Lorca and their claims that "are those of everyone."
The Secretary General of the PSOE in Lorca, Diego José Mateos was present today, together with a delegation from the Lorca Socialist Group and the PSRM-PSOE, in the demonstration called by the irrigators, to claim together with them definitive solutions to the "extreme drought "that is putting at risk the survival of the primary sector in Lorca and the Guadalentín region.
Mateos assures that the lack of water that affects our land, on which "thousands of families" depend, can not continue to be addressed with "patches".
The socialist spokesman says that only with a large "State" agreement will the measures that the Lorca field and the Guadalentín valley need urgently.
Diego José Mateos has once again claimed the importance of sheltering ideological and territorial differences, and of tackling this serious problem among all, since it is what irrigators and farmers expect from political parties.
Mateos assures that the only flag should be water today, that of the Lorca farmers and the thousands of workers of the agricultural sector in our region who, day by day, go to the bullfights, the alhóndigas, the countryside or the stores to earn their livelihood.
The socialist responsible has assured that they have come to Madrid, to accompany the irrigators and with a very clear message: without water, the only thing that exists is unemployment and desert.
The Government and all the parties have to listen to us, and know how far we have had to go. "
Mateos has once again demanded that the government repeal the transfer rate of the Tajo-Segura, which is forcing irrigators in the region to pay for "water that does not arrive."
It also demands the cheapening of the desalinated water, the "100%" commissioning of the desalination plants, and the completion of the pipes still pending, which are necessary to channel the water from the Águilas desalination plant to the Lorca field.
