The Councilor for Youth of the City of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, presented this morning the XVIX Secondary School Theater Contest, which will take place this afternoon at the Guerra Theater starting at 6:30 p.m.
Agustín Llamas has indicated that "more than 300 young people belonging to secondary education institutes throughout the municipality will go up this afternoon to the tables of the War to stage 12 small plays that they have prepared during the school year through the various workshops that the Department of Youth has launched within the activities that are being carried out in schools.
The Youth Councilor explained that "as in previous years, performances will be made in sessions of 10 - 20 minutes.
From 18:30 hours the doors of the War Theater will be open for free, until full capacity is reached, to see all the works that the students have prepared.
It should be noted that the Theater Workshops and secondary schools that participate in this Theater Competition are: IES Ibáñez Martín, IES Prince of Asturias, IES Bartolomé Pérez Casas and IES Ros Giner.
The students have prepared different works dedicated to a free theme and with adaptations made by the students themselves, with the help of the teachers of the center and the monitors of the Youth Council. "
Llamas has indicated that "this is an activity that is consolidated in the school and cultural calendar of the town, and that comes to enhance the taste for theater and culture in general among the youngest of our municipality, since for many of them this is the first time they go on stage to represent a play in front of a large audience ".
El Edil de Juventud added that "the objective of the Municipality of Lorca with the realization of this Theater Competition is to enhance the creative and representative skills among students, while providing them with an alternative leisure tool outside school hours;
fact that in some cases it can serve as a base for them to choose to develop their artistic career, and in others it simply helps them to increase their social network and make friends. "
