The Governing Council has authorized the investment of 1,310,829 euros to complete the reconstruction process of the neighborhood of San Fernando de Lorca, which was demolished in its entirety as a result of the serious damage caused by the 2011 earthquakes.
Thus, the Autonomous Community continues to participate in the reconstruction of the buildings, which suffered significant damage to their structures and involved the demolition of the group of 232 homes located in the neighborhood, including some that were owned by the Autonomous Community.
This amount of 1.3 million is added to another payment already made by the regional government worth more than 558,000 euros for the construction of the San Fernando real estate complex, which will allocate a total investment of 1,869,694 euros.
This investment is the result of the obligations that the Community has as owner in this project.
After the reconstruction of the neighborhood, the Community will assume the ownership of 18 public housing units, 20 garage spaces, and almost 71 square meters of commercial space, based on their share of participation in the neighborhood.
In addition, the regional government allocates another 2.6 million euros to improve the urban spaces of San Fernando, an action that is carried out in coordination with the reconstruction works of the nine blocks of the neighborhood.
The urban renewal project includes the improvement of supply networks (drinking water, electricity, rainwater, gas and communications), the provision of landscaped and leisure areas and the provision of urban furniture.
