The Councilman of Agriculture of the City of Lorca, Angel Meca, along with the president of Artichoke of Spain, Antonio Galindo, have presented the act "The Colmos de los Colmos" to be held this Thursday in Lorca with the organization of the association for the promotion of this vegetable.

Mecca has announced that "the contestant of Masterchef Mireia Ruiz will be in charge of making the artichoke cut in this event to be held on a farm located in the Tercia deputation, in which the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, will participate. Counselor of Agriculture of the Autonomous Community, Francisco Jódar After the event, an honor cocktail will take place, featuring the artichoke, which will be tasted in different dishes ".

Artichoke of Spain is a non-profit association that focuses its efforts on making visible the benefits of a crop that is part of the agronomic culture of our country and is a key piece in many dishes of the Mediterranean diet.

Founded in October 2014, it brings together farmers, horticultural companies, processing industry, shops and restaurants in Spain.

In the act "El Colmo de los Colmos" collaborate as partner companies of Artichoke of Spain in the Region of Murcia Agrocazalla, Agrodolores El Mirador, Agroter, Alimer, Almerca, Conservas El Raal, Mercagrisa, Nunhems, Pevimar, Carthago Plants, Proexport, Soltir and Azarbe Ultracongelados to highlight the importance of the crop in the area, both in its fresh, preserved and frozen sides.

El Edil has pointed out that "Lorca is an agricultural engine at the regional and national level, within the local horticultural production the artichoke stands out, being our municipality one of the main producers and exporters." The Lorca artichoke is a symbol of the quality of our garden, conquering markets throughout Europe and generating wealth and jobs.We have to vindicate the excellence of our production and for that we are grateful to Artichoke of Spain for the celebration of this act in Lorca that will allow us to make known the benefits of the local garden ".
