The norm allows the Lorca innkeepers to have their terraces properly conditioned, complying with the existing legality and with the approval of the established permit.
Previously they had no security for these terraces.
The Councilor for Heritage in the City of Lorca, Francisco García, has reported that Lorca hoteliers continue to regularize the situation of their terraces thanks to the implementation of the Municipal Ordinance to that effect, which was approved unanimously by all political groups with representation in the Consistory in February 2015.
Francisco García explained that this Municipal Executive, taking into account multiple complaints sent by Lorca to the Ombudsman and the recommendations raised on the issue from different groups of citizens, addressed the need to establish a municipal regulatory framework that would allow to safely reconcile coexistence of the development of the professional activity of the hospitality sector with the neighborhood rest and the pedestrian traffic.
As a result, the current municipal ordinance allows Lorca hoteliers to have their terraces properly conditioned, complying with the existing legality and with the approval of the established permit.
Previously they did not have any security for these terraces.
Francisco Garcia explained that this Ordinance also had the contributions made by Hostelor, Chamber of Commerce, neighborhood groups and the Federation of Murcia Associations of People with Physical and Organizational Disability (Famdif).
We must also point out that after the entry into force of this Ordinance, a dissemination campaign was carried out to publicize the text and its implications among the innkeepers, which included the participation of local police officers and municipal technicians.
In fact, a moratorium was established that lasted for more than 2 and a half years for the establishments to normalize the situation of their terraces, a period during which no complaints were processed, temporarily parking the application of the sanctioning regime contemplated in the Ordinance .
This measure was applied so that the innkeepers had the necessary time to regularize their terraces, following a criterion of patience and understanding with professionals in the sector.
We must remember that the only document that hoteliers must obtain to regularize their terraces is the authorization of occupation of space, as established in the Ordinance, so other documents or self-assessments do not work.
The City Council allows establishments to expand their terraces during the celebration of holidays such as Christmas, Fair and Easter
The City Council, in collaboration with Famdif and Hostelor, maintains a Working Table that holds periodic meetings to evaluate the validity of the Ordinance, as well as the possible incorporation of new criteria that allow for flexibility or modification.
On the criticisms made to the effect by the mayor of C's, Garcia thanked the interest shown now, more than 3 years after the ordinance was approved unanimously, a period during which he has not submitted any proposal, except the parade of disqualifications and manipulations that have starred this morning.
The best way to help our hoteliers is to offer security.
