Pedro Sosa, councilor for Izquierda Unida Verdes in the municipality of Lorca, announced this morning at a press conference that will take to the municipal plenary in April, an initiative so that the private lots within the urban area can be used as parking areas until they are built.
The various regeneration works that have taken place in the neighborhoods of Lorca have led to a considerable reduction in the number of parking spaces, such as in San Cristóbal, Apolonia, Alameda de Cervantes or Avda. Juan Carlos I, without having been facilitated the neighbors of the affected areas alternatives to this problem.
Therefore, Sosa will propose in full that municipal technicians develop an urgent study of the number of places that would be necessary to alleviate the needs of the neighborhood, in collaboration with the groups and associations involved and for agreements to be reached between the owners of the unbuilt and the City Council, so that these plots can be used as parking areas until they are developed urbanistically.
An example of a solar that could be used in this way would be the one in La Viña between Talleres Street and Old Port Road, near the health center, which would facilitate access to it by users;
or the squares that remain fenced in Laberinto Street, where the City Council invaded a private area and where an agreement has not yet been reached with the owners of that plot.
According to Sosa, there are many lots within the municipality that are in poor state of maintenance by their owners, which could be used in this regard with the consent of their owners, as occurs with the site located in Carril de Caldereros that from for years it is used as parking, although it could be better conditioned, since its fencing does not comply with the norm, nor is it properly paved, if it serves to alleviate the deficit of parking spaces in the urban center.
