Councilwoman Gloria Martin denounced the lack of maintenance by the City Council, which creates risks for the safety of players and a terrible image in a field where many teams train and play in official competitions
The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martin, has transmitted to the local government team of the PP the complaints made by a large group of users of the sports facilities of 'Los Tollos', in La Hoya, who warn about important deficiencies in its maintenance.
After checking personally his condition, Martin demanded the placement of artificial turf on the perimeter of the main football field in which they play and train different teams such as the subsidiary of Lorca Fútbol Club (Third Division, Group 13), the Lorca Football Club or the San Francisco Soccer School.
"When players fall out of the field of play they do it on concrete ground that has already caused significant injuries to several players," he explained.
In addition, there is a risk of cutting the edges of broken fences and accidents by steps in terrible condition, poles and goals fallen months ago.
The councilor of IU-Greens also denounced the existence of an important hole in one of the F-7 football fields, as a result of the floods of 2012. "Five years have passed and the City Council has not done anything to repair it. which, in addition to posing a risk, prevents its use in official competitions despite the numerous sports activities that take place in these facilities, "he said.
Martín also indicated the need to completely remodel the dressing room area.
"Two of them have barely touched since its construction 25 years ago and are obsolete and full of humidity."
In this regard, he recalled that the athletes who are part of the mixed and female teams have to wait until the boys finish to shower, which would not happen if they had clothes according to their needs.
The lighting of the complex also leaves much to be desired.
None of the four existing towers in the main field have their eight lights in operation.
In one of them there are up to six fades, which prevents a correct vision in the game area, especially in the corners.
Users also complain about the lack of care of the trees and garden areas by the City Council.
"Nobody comes here to cut or perform gardening tasks, so the facilities offer a careless appearance, which is the image that also take the foreign teams and their followers when they play in Los Tollos."
Gloria Martín recalled that it is a complex transferred in use to the City Council and that the obligation of this is to maintain it in optimal conditions.
For this reason, he encouraged the Councilor for Sports, Juan Miguel Bayonas, to repair the state of consent granted by his predecessors and to listen to those who suffer from their current conditions of neglect to make it a worthy place to practice football.
