The General Director of Planning, Architecture and Housing, Laura Sandoval and the Councilor for Works of Lorca, Ángel Meca, supervised today the works to improve pedestrian safety in Camino Marín de Lorca, which will provide new sidewalks, better lighting and a new road and that will connect with Alameda de Cervantes.
The Autonomous Community finances the action that has a bid budget of 368,000 euros and a deadline of nine months.
Laura Sandoval explained that the improvement of infrastructure that runs between Carlos María Barberán street and the popular Camino Marín has the priority objective of optimizing pedestrian traffic in the area, which has registered a notable increase thanks to the installation of new public services.
The action includes the construction of a street 18 meters wide, between road and steel, and a bike path of 2.5 meters.
"In addition, a new road for evacuation and communication between Alameda de Cervantes and Camino Marín will be executed," the director said, adding that the urban and service equipment will also be improved.
Sandoval explained that it is planned to pipe the rainwater channel that provides coverage to the residents of María Agustina Street and install a pipeline for the evacuation of rainwater from Carlos María Barberán Street.
Likewise, the current luminaires will be replaced by other LEDs, a new telephony channeling will be carried out in the whole street, as well as the undergrounding of the low voltage lines.
An automated irrigation network will also be installed for gardening in this area, in which the current trees will be conserved.
