Mateos demands the completion of the Villaescusa palace works and the return of the municipal services to their usual location, to save the municipal coffers the 1,200 euros that, a month, the City of Lorca pays to locate statistical services in other dependencies

The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has returned to denounce the delay suffered by the remodeling of the Villaescusa palace, and with it, the extra cost that is generating this delay, which now reaches 20,000 euros.

Mateos remembers that the Local Government Board of December 22 recognized the delay and, at the same time, a new term of completion of the 3-month works was granted.

A term that, warns, "has already expired", while they continue paying 1,200 euros per month in rentals to locate statistical services in another unit, outside the Villaescusa palace.

As already showed both on November 6, 2017 and January 3, 2018, the works of the Palace of Villaescusa suffer a delay that costs the municipal coffers 1,200 euros per month, since it has had to be rented a place to house the dependencies of the statistical service and in addition there are scattered other services that will be located in said palace.

In concrete, remembers Mateos, the works had to be finished in November of 2016 reason why they accumulate a delay of a year and a half.

Since Villaescusa was evicted 23 months have passed, when the works were supposed to last six, so the City of Lorca has paid 17 months rent "more".

Likewise, the last Local Government Board of 2017 required the company to deliver the works in 3 months, an issue that "to date has not been met" and therefore, the delay and cost continues to accumulate, amounting to to 20,000 euros in rent.

Similarly, Mateos recalled that a report was issued by the municipal intervention at the request of the Municipal Socialist Group in which these additional costs were recognized and proposed the opening of a contradictory file to impose penalties on the contractor for breach of the contract terms.

As noted by Mateos, this delay not only involves an additional cost to the municipal coffers, but also causes inconvenience to citizens who "must make a pilgrimage from one building to another to make the arrangements" and in the case of the statistical service "les it forces us to wait their turn outdoors, in the street, due to the characteristics of the rented premises ".

Therefore, instead of visiting streets in works to walk along the sidewalks still unfinished as in Alameda de Cervantes, or to make sightseeing tours by the palace of Villaescusa, as happened in November, announcing its "immediate termination", Mateos recommends the governing team of the Popular Party and its Mayor, that are pending and know how to be demanding so that the works "are completed in a timely manner" and "to the full satisfaction of the administration".

Mateos also requests that they require, to whom it proceeds, that they compensate the expenses and additional costs of 20,000 euros, up to date, which have meant these delays.
