The Autonomous Community finances the treatment of 32 minors with judicial measures in Lorca, and a total of 300 minors throughout the Region, through the association Cefis, Collective of studies, training and social research, with whom he met today in Lorca the general secretary of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities, Manuel Marcos Sánchez, and the general director of Family and Social Policies, Miriam Pérez.
The Cefis association executes these measures with the financing of 760,000 euros by the Community, in its five open media units with headquarters in Murcia, Cartagena, Lorca, Jumilla and Caravaca de la Cruz, which serve minors in small groups or individually.
The follow-up and attention of the judicial measures of these minors are carried out through assistance to day center, probation, performing socio-educational tasks, benefit to the community, outpatient treatment and weekend stay in the address.
Regarding the profile of the minors with whom it intervenes, 88 percent are male, with little academic training, since they only know how to read and write or have basic training, presenting absenteeism and school failure.
The average age of beginning of the measures is greater than 17 years.
The General Directorate of Family and Social Policies, responsible for the follow-up of the action programs on the execution of measures adopted by juvenile judges, develops benefit programs for the benefit of the community, internment in educational centers for reform and intervention in the midst of open.
The priority objective of this action is that children have an environment with adequate educational conditions so that they can reorient those deficiencies that characterize their antisocial behavior.
Since its inception, the Cefis association has been developing various intervention projects, both in the social and community, collaborating actively with different entities of public and private nature.
Since 2001, it has been focused on the development and execution of judicial measures for minors in an open environment (Organic Law 5/2000, of January 12, regulating the criminal responsibility of minors).
