Adoración Peñas, councilor of the municipal group of IU-Greens of Lorca has said that her group will take to the next regular plenary in April a petition that, in the opinion of the mayor, is a question of justice.
Peñas recalled that, in February 2016, he denounced the situation that a family in the neighborhood of Los Angeles was living in, in which the father, kidney transplant, together with his youngest daughter, who is a student, took charge of the mother, affected of multiple sclerosis and operated on heart and a 26 year old son, with cerebral palsy from birth.
The father, with (partial) help from the daughter, has been taking care, in addition to the household chores, of the intensive care of his wife and his son, which he climbed on and off on his back two to four times a day. second floor, since until just two weeks ago, his house did not have an elevator.
The councilor has said that, in the struggle to get the elevator, the city of Lorca has not responded with dignity to the needs of this family, nor the CARM, who has denied several grants that the family has requested for improvements in accessibility in the building, since, in this case, the elevator is not a luxury but a primary need for this family.
From IU-Greens regret that the elevator that just finished had to arrive so late and thanks to the family, the neighborhood community and a contribution of a neighbor from Mazarrón who wanted to volunteer.
For that reason, and due to the humanitarian factors that affect the situation described by the mayor, from the formation of the left will ask the City Council through the departments of Social Services, Urban Planning or those that the government team considers appropriate, enable an economic aid to cover the cost, at least partially, of the elevator, in the case of an insignificant amount, once discounted donations from individuals, for the municipal coffers.
