Fulgencio Gil: "I can anticipate that we will continue working in the same line until achieving the execution of a project that will benefit all the neighbors, constituting the most ambitious, complex and positive plan that has been carried out in San Cristóbal".
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has reported that the City Council is moving forward in the necessary processing for the construction of a new health center that will provide coverage to residents of San Cristobal.
For this last Friday the Local Government Board proceeded to approve the progress of the Nonstructural Modification No. 72 of the PGMO of Lorca for the qualification of a plot as a local system of equipment to house the facilities of the aforementioned health center , as well as the change of delimitation of the corresponding Unit of Action.
The First Edil explained that the modification of the proposed General Plan is made for the purpose of qualifying a plot as a local system of equipment in Unit 23, designed to house the premises of a health center in the Barrio de San Cristóbal, in Lorca.
Specifically, it is intended to allocate a part of the surface of the block 2 (1,053 m2) for local equipment by adjusting the alignments of blocks 2 and 3 and the new opening vial.
Also, the maximum height allowed to the owners is modified, which is extended to 6 floors plus attic and overlap in the three blocks of the UA-23 with the objective of distributing the planned buildability.
Fulgencio Gil has anticipated that with this modification of the General Plan the limit of the unit of action is adjusted by eliminating the Cristo de la Sangre building, built in 2002, prior to the approval of the current General Plan, located on the street. Eulogio Periago, which was the subject of direct construction in its day through the corresponding urban planning license.
It is also proposed with this modification the change of system of action of compensation to cooperation, justifying said change of system in the public interest in executing the unit considering the general and local systems that are obtained with its development.
The Mayor has indicated that the commitment and determination of this Municipal Executive to provide the residents of San Cristóbal with both a new health center and a green lung in the heart of the neighborhood is unbreakable, and the step taken to the effect by of the Governing Board prove it.

The obtaining of these lands will be made possible through the impulse given to the Unit of Action 23 (UA23), which allows to have a piece of equipment of dimensions of 1,000 m2 applying to this UA a system of public initiative.
Fulgencio Gil has indicated that the urban development of these lands was paralyzed almost 10 years by problems between the different owners.
What we do from the Town Hall is take the initiative, order the surface and offer the neighborhood of San Cristóbal a new impulse.
The Mayor has stressed that our goal has always been to install these units precisely in the location where we have managed to do, as we believe that it is the most suitable for its centralized situation, proximity to the neighbors of the area and communication routes .
The Mayor has anticipated that the action of the City not only includes the construction of the health center, but will proceed to the construction of a large green area with playground thanks to the obtaining of a plot of 1,034 m2 located between the streets Eulogio Periago, Juan Mínguez and Beato Fray Pedro Soler.
This municipal intervention is the most ambitious urban planning project that has been developed in the area, and will result in the release of a key space to improve the neighborhood both aesthetically and dotacionalmente.
Fulgencio Gil has reported that the City of Lorca has improved over the past few years over a hundred streets in the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, investments of which include the integral improvement of Calle Mayor and Ortega Melgares (715,000 euros), as well as Eulogio Periago (€ 712,000) including the latter in an injection of 7.5 million for the comprehensive arrangement of a battery of 58 streets, which makes this performance the most beneficial and highest ever made in San Cristóbal in its history.
In addition to the indicated, other municipal works have allowed the improvement of other 46 streets in the same neighborhood.
It should be anticipated that San Cristobal has also begun work on Charco Street, responding to the commitment that this City Council expressed to the residents, involving an investment of 358,333.70 euros.
The tasks of improving the Plaza de las Hortalizas are also being implemented, thanks to an investment of 23,400 euros by the General Directorate of Trade of the CARM.
