The liquidation of the 2017 municipal budget shows an increase of almost 40% in revenues from traffic penalties to reach 733,486.86 euros, which confirms the "witch hunt" that the Popular Party maintains against Lorca drivers.
By 2018, and with the new radar in between, the Mayor and his team set themselves the goal of raising another 600,000 euros in this regard, a forecast that has been exceeded in recent years.
The second deputy spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Isidro Abellán warns, by the figures that throws the Liquidation of the Municipal Budget of 2017, the Popular Party is on track to reach in this city hall the million euros in revenue for traffic sanctions.
Abellán has shown that if in 2015 262,000 euros (261,755.61) were paid for this concept, the following year in 2016 the penalties were increased to 533,000 euros (533,289.39), more than double the year previous.
Last year, and as shown by the 2017 Municipal Budget Settlement, the revenues of the city council for traffic sanctions reached the figure of 733,486.86 euros, almost 40% more than the previous year (37.54%), almost the triple than two years before.
The income based fines in Lorca already exceed 2,000 euros per day (2,009.55), and according to Abellán "does not look like stopping here."
The data is from last year, 2017, when the radar was not yet in service, or rather "the cinemometer" as the councilor of traffic likes to say, that Mr. Gil Jódar, mayor of Lorca, and Ms. Perez, councilor of traffic, have put into operation this year in the streets of Lorca "to continue making cash and continue to fatten this game" which looks set to reach 2018 million euros.
Abellán says it is easy to see what the forecasts of this PP government team are.
In 2016, they budgeted 225,000 euros for traffic fines and collected 533,000 euros.
In 2017 they budgeted 550,000 euros and raised 733,000, and for this year 2018 they budgeted 600,000 euros, which means that at the end of last year they expected to exceed the figure of 2017, and they knew it because they had a toy in their hands. it cost them more than 30,000 euros and they will have amortized in 15 days if we follow the path of income of 2,000 euros a day last year.
Given this situation, from the PSOE again remind this PP government team that there are other ways of doing things, instead of continuing with this "witch hunt" against Lorca, and warn that if it were not for those 8 votes that the courts gave them and that made it possible for him to govern in Lorca "now they would be doing otherwise".
For Abellán, "road safety is not putting fines right and left": road safety is also road safety education, is analysis and resolution of problems in traffic, are deterrents that slow down, better lighting of roads, it is the elimination of black spots, among other measures, and if the Popular Party does not know how to apply these ideas, it will have to be the Socialist Party that sets them in motion.
