"We will want to protect and recover these buildings through their declaration as an Asset of Cultural Interest," says the mayor Antonio Meca.
Citizens Lorca will present a proposal at the next Plenary to create a plan to protect the military architecture of the Civil War located in the municipality.
The intention is to protect these constructions of military engineering, which in Lorca are concentrated in the Sierra de Almenara, through its declaration as an Asset of Cultural Interest, to later put them in value.
According to Councilman Antonio Meca, "there are numerous historical military infrastructures in the area of the Portajo in Purias, with up to two casemates, a network of trenches and ammunition tanks and troop refuges that could be affected, and other similar infrastructures have been located. in the skirt of the castle of Felí and Campo López ".
Meca emphasizes that for now these constructions "do not enjoy any kind of legal protection nor are there realistic policies of musealization and disclosure of a forgotten heritage, so we consider necessary this plan of protection and enhancement that could in the future suppose a new tourist attraction and patrimonial for our city ".
