The spokesman of the Municipal Group of IU-V, Pedro Sosa, appeared this morning before the local media to denounce, with abundant graphic material, the lamentable state of maintenance and conservation in which the "La Verdad" park is located. It finishes the upper part of Abellaneda Street in the Lorca district of San Cristóbal.
Sosa states that, in general, the state of conservation of green areas in Lorca is clearly improved, but that it gets even worse when we move away from the city center and we approach the most peripheral neighborhoods and districts.
It is a park that, unlike other existing ones in Lorca, does not have buffer zones for the falls of children with rubber floors, in which a substantial part of the children's elements present are broken and damaged more than by the vandalism by the passage of time and the lack of timely conservation, maintenance and replacement, and where there is a more than evident lack of cleanliness.
The spokesman of IU-V has advanced that it will demand to the City council that it controls if the works of maintenance of this and other parks of Lorca, outsourced in a private company, are being carried out according to the agreed stipulations, and also affirms that it goes to request that, taking advantage of the need to replace games and attractions for children, the park "La Verdad" becomes the first inclusive park in Lorca, so that some of the elements of play for children are designed and arranged under criteria of universal accessibility: swings with closure adapted to wheelchairs, safe seats with backrests and armrests, sensory games, etc.
An adaptation that should also arrive sooner than later to all children's play areas of Lorca.
