On 8 November, Moroccan police and military forces with an estimated 50,000 troops, attacked and overran the camp of the Saharawi of El Aaiun, forcibly evicting residents who were protesting peacefully, and causing an undetermined number of dead and wounded.
The huge camp where some 20,000 people had been destroyed and dismantled, people persecuted: the repression has been brutal.
The army has wreaked havoc among the displaced, has launched tear gas and boiling water from helicopters, which while cutting all communication with the settlement, leaving their isolated inhabitants.
These facts put back on the front page of the dramatic situation in the brotherly people of Western Sahara: a chaotic situation, the legacy of an unfinished process of decolonization.
A territory, in the desert, forgotten for 35 years.
