Yesterday, Sunday, November 21, was held at the Cortijo de la Tortuga Mora located in Purias (Lorca), the ceremony of "Tortuga Mora Award for Conservation, 2010 edition, which was established last year to publicly recognize the work of individuals or institutions that contribute, in a prominent and effective, the conservation of our environmental values and sustainable development of the Region of Murcia and its environment.
The Jury Prize Mora Turtle Conservation "decided unanimously to award this prize, ex aequo, to individuals and associations to Lorca that criterion in 2010 have contributed to the conservation of the Sierra de la Almenara their environment: Countryside Neighborhood Association López, Purias Neighborhood Association San Pedro and Santa Ana and neighbors and Aguadero Women's Association, for his opposition to the installation of a high voltage of 132,000 volts, promoted by Iberdrola, which traverse the entire mountain, causing serious damage to the environment and the inhabitants of the area.
The jury praised the important work of these organizations and individuals to defend their land and heritage of all Murcia and Murcia.
At the award ceremony attended by 260 guests, among whom were property owners, neighbors of the three districts, hunters, farmers and representatives of all political groups in the Municipality of Lorca and the Environment Councillor, D.

The winning spokesperson publicly thanked the prize awarded by the Global Nature Foundation in recognition of the great effort made by the neighbors in unequal conditions and means to avoid a bill that would have led to serious social and environmental impact in the Sierra de la Almenara environment.
Also thanked Ecologists in Action Murcia Region for its support and all political groups in the Municipality of Lorca for their final position against the project.
