UPyD considers that the construction of the auditorium is not a priority for the city at this time because it represents an enormous expense at a time of economic crisis which is facing other more immediate needs and more direct impact on the interests of Lorca.
This project is just one of the PP's electoral promises will be missed because the opportunity was lost in time, when there was money for everything.
Now the city government undertakes studies and makes modifications to the development plan but knows that will not be complete before the end of the legislature.
"It is neither the time nor is the way to go. The intended location for the auditorium is one of the few places that Lorca have to have green and leisure areas, something that we badly needed in Lorca" commented Juan Manuel Cabrera, spokesman for the party and candidate for mayor.
UPyD asked the municipal government to stop pandering to the great public works that focus on urban problems of citizens.
These projects proposed to seek a grand bargain in the long term the most suitable location and the financing of such infrastructure.
From UPyD is evidenced by the fear of starting a work that is incomplete for lack of funds and for the sole purpose of making the relevant picture for sale as electoral gain.
Moreover this is done by removing an area that should be devoted to green space and demonstrates the commitment that is made from the local government for this type of urban model in which economic interests take priority to improving the quality of life of citizens.
UPyD proposed that the money from that project to invest in the construction of a large public park and children's recreation areas and the provision of sports facilities to promote sport and healthy lifestyle.
It also proposes the creation of a network of cycle paths around the village to communicate and have their point of origin in this space to the existing around the city.
Along with this increased investment demand in the city's cultural programs in schools, sports facilities and libraries in the city.
