The socialist candidate for mayor, Manuel Soler, today asked the City Council to make available to the Association of patients with Parkinson Lorquin premises for the care for those affected by this disease.
Manuel Soler recalled that last March 1, the local councilor for social, Mari Carmen Ruiz, announced the packaging of a local city situated at River Guadalentín as focus of Parkinson's disease, because the building had a number architectural barriers that prevented access to some users.
At that time, the councilor said that the upgrading works have finished in two months.
That is, according to the commitment of Mrs. Ruiz, from the month of May, those affected by this disease should be counting on the local public to improve their quality of life.
Last week, some sufferers urged the mayor to fulfill his commitment, to which she replied that would be made to furnish the place.
Paradoxically, the center has the necessary furniture since last September, which was fully completed its reform.
This shows, according to Manuel Soler, "the lack of involvement and knowledge of the PP have some council members about their own areas of responsibility."
The socialist candidate was asked what is waiting for the PP government team to make available to users this facility.
In this respect he does not believe he said Ruiz, "has such a workload that prevents you from handing over the keys of the premises of the Association of patients with Parkinson Lorca."
In this regard stated that "we feel it very serious that this Councillor was doing waiting for those affected by this disease, just to bring the opening to the municipal elections and to take the picture."
If so, said Soler, "shameful and inhuman would seem that they were giving priority to political interests over social work and health as important as developing this partnership."
Professional NGO's Dismissal
Moreover, the Socialist candidate for mayor was concerned about the lack of social sensitivity of the government team of Francisco Jodar, regarding the work being done by NGOs and other humanitarian organizations in the municipality.
Manuel Soler said that in the past two years, these organizations have been cut from 60% in municipal subsidies.
In addition, the City has not paid the money promised for the years 2009 and 2010.
This makes about a dozen NGOs operating in Lorca are considering dismissing the professionals at their disposal and some even being valued "close down", according to Manuel Soler said.
The PSOE candidate PP asked the Mayor to address their commitments to these associations, which he said "are doing invaluable work in Lorca" and are on track to disappear by the lack d municipal support.
