The new Central Round Lorca will provide a strategic axis of communication with a capacity of 20,000 vehicles per day (02/03/2011)

The new 4.5 km road is a total investment of 24 million euros, with a route that begins in the neighborhood of San Cristóbal and runs parallel to the boardwalk to the highway Tiata Lorca-Eagles

The president of the Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, chaired today the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, to implement the first phase the new Central Round of the municipality, which will form a strategic axis of communication with a capacity 20,000 vehicles a day.

This is a project that is part of measures to improve road infrastructure in the Autonomous Community of Murcia, promoted by the regional government with the aim of promoting social, economic and tourist area, and is expected to benefit directly to over 92,000 Lorca.

Central Round, with a total budget of 24 million euros and has a length of 4.5 kilometers, will allow for greater fluidity of movement in the Lorca municipality and the decongestion of the urban center of the population, leading to a more agile movements in major thoroughfares of the municipality, such as Armed Forces Europe, where traffic currently flows from the Mediterranean motorway (A-7).

Specifically, the agreement includes the proceedings of the first phase, which runs from the Barrio de San Cristobal in the N-340a (parallel to the A-7), to the Camino de Cartagena street, near the river Guadalentín , where we will proceed with the implementation of two subsections over 1,550 meters in exchange for an investment of 9,794,785 euros.

The first of these subsections include two roundabouts and a bridge to bridge crossing the railway line and the second will start from second to third roundabout to be built next to river.

The new road will be parallel to the boardwalk Tiata and end in the way of high capacity Lorca-Eagles (RM-11), will run at a speed of 60 mph and will have two lanes in each direction, parking lots and sidewalks , and a signage and lighting to ensure the most appropriate conditions of comfort and road safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

Also have a bike lane that will allow three-mile drive sustainable mobility and intermodality city transport, and will form an element of urban regeneration with a design that includes the planting of trees on both sides of the road and palm trees and rose bushes in the median, and the provision of artificial turf at the roundabouts.

With the implementation of the new Central Round will be a communications backbone to the east of the urban population of Lorca, which will channel traffic from the eastern towns of the township.

Thus, circulation will be rearranged derivative of the roads connecting the center of Lorca with villages inch (RM-D7), Mesilla (RM-D8) and Puri (RM-621).
