About two thousand young people from different regions will gather this weekend in the Scout Festival 2011, that Lorca celebrated under the theme "Youth: Present and Future ', and today was inaugurated by Director General of Youth, Veronica López.
The meeting aims to promote participatory citizenship, to celebrate the European Year of Volunteers and the International Year of Forests.
During the weekend we will develop a comprehensive program of educational, environmental and leisure, including workshops, treasure hunt, cultural tours and scout song contest.
In the song contest, which this year celebrates its thirty-seventh year, scouts groups participate winners of regional festivals, with lyrics and scenes that convey the values ​​and principles of Scouting.
Veronica Lopez said that "this event gives young people the opportunity to enjoy leisure activities and free time, and to promote solidarity and youth participation."
The festival, organized by ASDE-Scouts of Spain and coordinated by ASDE-Explorers of Murcia, is an initiative to bring together young people from across the country in a single place to share activities and experiences, and where recreational activities share the stage with social engagement and youth participation.
