The Minister of Economy and Finance functions, Inmaculada García, met today with the Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, to address the procedures to follow in obtaining various European funds for Lorca's economic recovery following the earthquakes of the past 11 May.
Garcia explained that since his department "are working on the road that opened the services of the European Commission to channel financial resources within the current programming period 2007-2013 Cohesion Policy."
This route covers the Structural Funds, the European Social Fund (ESF), for the labor market and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), aimed at regional development actions, which are already being planned and allocated for the entire period in the various regional and multi-regional Operational Programmes.
"It's not that the Commission allocate additional resources to these funds, already allocated, but it's the nod to reprogramming we transfer funds from the operational program, said the minister.
The responsible regional said "we have already approached the Ministry of Labour and Immigration, the Economy and Finance, which is the national managing authority of the ESF and ERDF, respectively, to detect the existence of funds they deem that could yield to Murcia Region. "
He added that "both Ministries have expressed their willingness to make these adjustments, and we are waiting for some initial estimates of any amounts that might be available and conditions thereof."
