HM the Queen will preside this evening the ceremony of the Cross of the Civil Order of Social Solidarity, which will also be present, among other authorities, the Minister of Health, Social Policy and Equality, Leire Pajin, and the delegate Government in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar.

These awards reward individuals and groups who have distinguished themselves by working in solidarity activities and this year have been awarded the Silver Cross of that order, in exceptional cases to the various agencies and institutions that engaged the effects of earthquakes of Lorca, in recognition of his hard work, commitment and professionalism: the Military Emergency Unit (UME), the Civil Protection Service of the Government Delegation in Murcia, the emergency facility of the Ministry of Justice and Citizen Security in the Region of Murcia, Lorca Local Police, the Red Cross in the Region of Murcia, Murcia Health Service, the National Police in the Region of Murcia, the Guardia Civil in the Region of Murcia and Fire in the Region of Murcia.

With respect to the granting of such Cruces, Gonzáez Tovar said: "I think it will be difficult to find groups that have given so many demonstrations of solidarity such as that from the outset worked to mitigate the effects of earthquakes and attention Lorca those affected by earthquakes. "

The Government delegate added that "this has been recognized by the Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality" by granting these Cruces "that distinguish individuals and groups who have distinguished themselves by working in solidarity activities."

At today's event also will be delivered the following distinctions:

Golden Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Social Solidarity: Gervasio Sánchez, a journalist and photographer, as recognition of its social advocacy and public awareness about the suffering of civilians, especially children, in armed conflict.

Gold Crosses Civil Order of Social Solidarity: the Democratic Union of Pensioners (UDP), Down Spain, Victor Renes Ayala, vice president of EAPN-Spain (European Network for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion), Pilar Claveria Mendoza , chairman of the Federation of Roma Associations of Aragon, Ramon Salazar Barrul, president of the Federation of Gypsy de Castilla y León, Leocadio Marín Rodríguez, president of Red Cross from 1986 to 1990 and mayor of Baeza, Jose Luis Ripoll García, President Vodafone Foundation, Rafael de Lorenzo García, secretary general of the General Council of ONCE, and Paulino Azua Berea, former managing director of FEAPS (Spanish Confederation of Organisations for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities)
