The distinction, extraordinary character, recognizes the work of various agencies and institutions engaged the effects of the earthquake on May 11

Spanish Red Cross will collect this afternoon the Silver Cross of the Civil Order of Social Solidarity, which has been granted with other agencies, the Ministry of Health, Social and Equality Politician in recognition of his hard work, commitment and professionalism in front the effects of the earthquake in Lorca (Murcia).

The award ceremony of the Cross will be chaired by Her Majesty Queen Sofia and will be held this afternoon at 18:00 in the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid.

With this recognition, we wanted to reward the outstanding work that Red Cross has developed in the region of Murcia after the earthquake of 5.2 on the Richter scale shook the town of Lorca on 11 May.

Red Cross in the Region of Murcia was able to mobilize within 6 hours after the quake to 22 ambulances, 3 Advanced Medical Post, 5 Rapid Intervention Vehicles, 8 auxiliary transport vehicles, 1 Warehouse Logistics Emergency Provisional 2 Shelters health use for affected and 1-Coordination Unit Mobile Communications, all managed by 115 Red Cross volunteers in the Region of Murcia.

At present technical volunteers and Spanish Red Cross, thanks to the generosity of businesses, organizations, institutions and individuals from all over Spain, many of them with the Region of Murcia, is implementing various intervention projects with the most municipality of Lorca's vulnerable, that their lives have been affected by this terrible disaster.

Spanish Red Cross receives this award along with other institutions and agencies also participated in the care of those affected by the earthquake: Emergency Military Unit (UME), the Civil Protection Service of the Government Delegation in Murcia, the device emergence of the Ministry of Justice and Public Safety in the Region of Murcia, the local police Lorca, Murcia Health Service, the National Police in the Region of Murcia, the Guardia Civil in the Region of Murcia and Fire the Region of Murcia.
