The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, today announced that the Ministry of Development has begun work declared emergency to repair the damage to the Church of San Mateo, affected by the earthquake on 11 May.
With a budget of 979,000 euros, which will be provided entirely by the Ministry of Development, through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Projects, the work will last approximately 10 months.
Be made by the company Lorquimur, Restoration and Construction SL already made certain operations, such as mounting the scaffold outside and fencing for emergency orders issued by the competent authorities.
Emergency works are intended to stop the process of decay in the building caused by earthquakes and restore damage caused by them.
Among the works to be carried out include:
- Strengthening of the blocks of the cornice of the tower that could be bad
- Repair the roof and eaves of the same
- Demolition of the auction of the central body of the facade, running a new eardrum to protect the crown of the wall.
In parallel, we will repair the deck of the ship concerned.
- Repair of three of the four vaults around the dome while the rest of the nave and chapels only require sewing and solidarization work.
- Sewing of the keys to the arches of the naves and chapels.

For security reasons, the Ministry has asked the City Council closed the public Lorca the street from the priest Emilio Garcia for at least the period of repair of the tower, estimated at about three months.
