The Councillor for Health of the City of Lorca, Antonia Lopez, has announced that "from tomorrow and every Wednesday during August, will be installed at the fairgrounds in Santa Quiteria a point of information, adoption and collection of animals, in order to try to reduce the number of stray animals and encourage adoption of pets delivered and collected. "
The public opening hours will be 10 to 12 am.
The mayor said that "while this initiative is carried out every summer due to the number of abandoned animals in the summer, this year the initiative has added value as a result of the earthquakes that plague us during the afternoon May 11, this service has had to step up. "
As pointed out by Lopez, "since there were earthquakes have been 200 animals delivered by their owners because, for various reasons resulting from earthquakes, can no longer take care of them. Similarly, in this period the company CERECO, responsible for the receipt of animals, collected 30 pets in custody, of which 25 have already been taken back by their owners once they can take care of them. "
The council has appealed to citizens Lorca to "use this service to leave their animals in the best hands rather than leave them with the problems that always cause these dropouts in every way."
Similarly, Lopez pointed out that "also all those interested in adopting a pet can make it through this service every Wednesday in August, so get to have a pet, especially a dog or cat at the same time to give a second chance to pet. "
