The Government delegate, Rafael González Tovar, today announced that at its meeting this morning, the Cabinet has taken the sum of two resolutions of the Secretary of State for Rural Water MARM, by authorizing the emergency works to repair various infrastructures affected by the earthquakes that occurred in the town of Lorca on 11 May.
On the one hand, this is the emergency works to repair the reservoir of Lorca, located near the urban center of this town in the district of Poland, along the path of national highway N-340, for amounting to 2,360,000 euros.
This tank is the reservoir water storage for the supply of Lorca, and since he also makes the water supply to the towns of Puerto Lumbreras and Eagles, being head of the delivery system of the three populations, as well as numerous districts of the municipality of Lorca, affecting a whole to a population of about 150,000.
The works are meant to repair structural damage detected in the reservoir, mainly cracks and fissures in the dome and the arches of mass concrete walls supporting the roof.
On the other hand, the Secretary of State for Rural Water and permission to do emergency work to repair damage to infrastructure and buildings postrasvase, which serve to supply a population of 2 million people, while providing irrigation for 126,500 hectares, amounting to 750,000 euros.
In this case, the actions are meant to repair the different falls occurred in the reservoir of Algeciras and the section III-Lorca Alhama channel, as well as repairing the building bunkers.
