Although the Dependency Act provides for the suspension of aid and the paralysis of the file change of address, all beneficiaries continue to receive their aid Lorca (07/10/2011)

October 7, 2011.

Councilwoman Social Services City of Lorca, María del Carmen Ruiz, and the Director General of the Office for the Unit, Miguel Angel Miralles, have encouraged this morning to the beneficiaries of the Law Unit and their families, to normalize the situation and report on whether their situation has changed after the earthquake of May 11.

The goal is to identify whether changes have been related to possible changes of address and other incidents in this regard.

In this regard, it has been found that about fifty beneficiaries have had to change their place of residence, although it is expected that this figure will increase as families will conform.

It should be remembered that currently the beneficiaries of this law in our municipality amounted to 1584, of whom 1110 are receiving financial aid and are cared for by their families at home, 88 are treated in day care centers and 386 homes are in for seniors.

The Director General of the Office of Unit stated that "since the autonomous region has been of particular interest and sensitivity to Lorca, in response to the emergency arising after the earthquakes. In fact, no record has been stopped and all the beneficiaries have continued to receive the assistance approved, and that although the Act provides that in case of change of address economic benefit should be stopped. We have decided to ignore this indication, as it will normalize the situation of families. "

Social Services Councilwoman Maria del Carmen Ruiz, said that "the City Council make available to the beneficiary families of this Act to the social workers of the Department, who will expedite the incorporation of new information to these records and continue with the processes of assessment and resolution. "
