The national deputy of the United Left, Gaspar Llamazares, has failed today in recognition of the Government Decree Lorca considered "insufficient" aid to the victims of the earthquake that devastated the city last May 11.
Llamazares explained that the Joint Commission has decided today only 2400 of the 14,192 applications submitted, so that those affected with fewer resources "are facing serious difficulties in paying the rents of houses have had to lease."
Also pointed out that the insurance pool has only paid 400 million euros in damages, and that the total amount approved, more than 11.9 million euros "have only been paid or are on track to pay around 900,000 euros."
The lawmaker has said the central government would incur 75 percent of aid, and not 50 percent, and recalled that his group's proposal is to increase the budget for the recovery of Lorca to 2,000 million euros.
"We found insufficient assistance in housing, industry, culture, heritage, public services, ICO and other credits, and therefore we are going to abstain," he concluded.
