Councilman Sports City of Lorca, Augustine Llamas, this morning responded to criticisms made by IU, "The European Union has awarded Lorca for his efforts to bet on sports, declaring European City of Sport".
Llamas said "this award would not have been possible without the commitment shown by Francisco Jodar since becoming mayor to improve sports facilities and promoting the popular sport."
In addition, the council stressed that "we are confident that this appointment will enable us to get more external funding for sports clubs and municipal facilities, as it is now more than ever private contributions and other administrations."
Finally, the mayor pointed out that "fruit of the good work of this City after the earthquakes all the sports facilities are open for use for quite some time, except Europe Sports Complex that already has a funding commitment."
