The European Parliament approves aid for more than 21 million euros for reconstruction Lorca after the earthquake (14/12/2011)

Francisco Sosa Wagner, UPyD MEP, has given his support in the European Parliament plenary in Strasbourg for the mobilization of 21 million euros from the Solidarity Fund of the EU, which will be devoted to repairing the city of Lorca after strong earthquake that struck last May 11 that left serious personal injury and damage.

The objective of this assistance is to support the city in rebuilding basic infrastructure, protecting cultural heritage and cleaning up affected areas although the nature of the aid may not be used to compensate damages caused to private property.

The Solidarity Fund of the EU was created to show the Union's solidarity with the population of regions struck by disasters.
