Councilman 23.diciembre.2011.El Environment of the City of Lorca, Melchor Morales, this morning the information days on both recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries being developed today and tomorrow, organized by the European Recycling Platform Spain company and the city of Lorca through its municipal utility Limusa.
The purpose of this meeting is to inform and raise awareness of the need for proper recycling of WEEE and batteries obsolete.
The conference will also feature a supportive markedly since the economic pillar of the project will go to the 'Table of solidarity' for the victims of the earthquake last May 11 that struck the town of Murcia.
The City Council has chosen ERP Lorca Spain to collaborate in this charity event informative because Spain is authorized ERP as Integrated Management System (GIS) for WEEE and batteries in the Autonomous Community of Murcia and has an agreement of collaboration with local government, personalized in the municipal Limusa.
Between 2010 and November 2011 ERP in Lorca Spain has collected almost 122 tons of WEEE, of which 60 tons are computer monitors and televisions, 36 tonnes for small appliances such irons, coffee pots, computers and mobile phones, 20 tons are large appliances such washing machines, ovens and stoves and 6 tons are refrigerators and other appliances that produce cold.
Given the population of Lorca and ERP market share in the national total, the amount collected per capita is 5.19 kg in 2010 and will be more than 5.38 kg in 2011, above the legal objectives established at 4 kg / inhabitant / year.
Since January 2010 have also been collected in the municipality 9.26 tonnes of portable batteries used.
Today, there are 213 inland container of 20 liters capacity, distributed by businesses and other points of the city where Lorca can deposit their used batteries.
Furthermore, when city streets are in good conditions after rehabilitation and reconstruction works will be installed 20 street columns, 60 liter capacity.
During the conference will provide information leaflets on how and what to recycle, as well as the addresses of the nearest recycling points.
Also screened a popular presentation on recycling.
Finally, citizens may take the opportunity to deposit their used batteries in containers that are enabled for this purpose.
The action will take place in Alameda of the Constitution as information point in the city and Beacon Mall, drawing large crowds throughout the region.
