The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, has received this morning a delegation of representatives from neighborhood groups in the hamlet of Almendricos, led by Diego Martinez, president of the Neighborhood Association, Antonio Diaz, village headman of almonds, and Jose Vidal, Deputy Mayor of Almendricos.
The mayor has received such a solidarity aid from the funds raised in the wake of bullfighting festival held during the festival of almonds, which amounts to the amount of 2,020 euros.
It should be remembered that this festival was held last November 13 on the occasion of the Feast of San Diego in the hamlet.
As swords met Antonio Ferrera, Paco and Miguel Angel Moreno Ureña, and featured bulls from the ranch of José García Guillén.
Over 700 people attended the portable bullring Almendricos to watch the bullfights.
It should be noted that many companies and other Almendricos collaborated with neighboring councils shopping festival ticket packages.
Similarly, should also be noted that bullfighters showed its solidarity with the cause by giving up their fees and charging only:
Travel expenses and crews, as in the case of Antonio Ferrera.
The cost of the gangs, in the case of Paco Ureña.
No expense in the case of Miguel Angel Moreno.
The mayor noted that since the city of Lorca want to thank the residents of this contribution Almendricos allocated to the Bureau for Development, responsible for attending to the victims of the tragic May 11 earthquake.
This is an important example of the collective effort of neighbors for the recovery of Lorca.
What was a mere entertainment event, like a patron saint, became the engagement of residents in a festival of solidarity which has brought a significant amount for those who are faring worse and will allow the Bureau for Development, which has already helped nearly 4,000 residents, can continue to allocate contributions to those who are faring worse.
