The City Council unifies the contracts for the maintenance of green areas in general and specific schools.

Councilman Works and Services of the City of Lorca, Angel Mecca, has reported that the city council plans to save around 340,000 euros by the exit to competition for the new tender for the maintenance and upkeep of green areas in the municipality.
Mecca said that "this significant savings will be achieved with the unification of specifications about it. It should be noted that so far two sheets were removed with a similar profile, one aimed at the conservation of green areas in general and specific to meet the needs of public schools (31 in total). From now on we decided to integrate both services, with consequent savings for Lorca. In this way we will get to keep the same service under the same guarantees.
Angel Mecca said that this new record of gardening requires the maintenance of the 30 workers that are currently developing their work on these tasks, so that their jobs are fully guaranteed.
The statement identifies the following major tasks to develop irrigation, lawn mowing and profiling, fertilization, aeration, scarifying and reseeding of grass, entrecavado, raking, weeding and weed control, conservation of the structure of existing natural elements, conservation of trees , maintenance of irrigation system, replacement work, pruning, trimming shrubs, ornamental squares and gardens, and cleaning of these areas, among other matters of consideration.
Angel Mecca has been reported that the administrative procedures for implementation of the new contract is already in process.
In fact the conditions outlined in the specifications have been approved by the Local Government Board at the meeting last week.
The specifications in this way, is now in the bidding phase, and we expect that within 50 days will be awarded for good.
The term of service will be 4 years, extendable up to 6, with the sum of 812,250 euros specifications.
200,000 m2 of new parks and green areas in less than 4 years.
Councilman Works has indicated that during the past 4 years the City has managed to pass the town having less than 300,000 m2 of green areas and parks, nearly 500,000 m2 of green areas and parks.
As playgrounds and children's entertainment, the city has grown from just over 50 in 2007 to 71 today.
We have also created 17 new parks have been remodeled 48 of which had in 2007, adapting to the existing safety regulations.
