The City Council commitment to artistic displays as central to the activities of the International Day of Women's Rights (08/03/2012)

The exhibition "Art Women" and "Women of Lorca: Hugs" and the series of performances "Showcases living", reflect the artistic concerns of women lorquinas.

March 8, 2012.

Women's Council Member of the City of Lorca, Lali Ibarra, inaugurated this morning the exhibition "Art Women", an exhibition that brings together a wide representation of manual work carried out by different associations of women in our municipality.

These paintings, sculptures, performances and other women lorquinas performed within the workshops that starts the Office of Women in local social and women's centers in the municipality.

Lali Ibarra said that within the programming provided by the City to commemorate the March 8, International Day of Women's Rights, this year we opted for culture, particularly for samples of artwork.

In fact we will develop two exhibitions about it, such as "Art Women", which you can see from this morning at the palace Garden Ruano, and "Women of Lorca: Hugs", which was opened in the afternoon Yesterday in class Cajamurcia Culture.

The latter has been organized by the group "Portals of Art" formed by great artists at the regional level.

This is a sample of 25 works including oil paintings, collages, watercolors, graphite and sculptures.

Women Councilwoman stressed that these are great exponents of Art with a capital Lorca and their participation is traditional in the municipal programming commemorating the March 8.

But this time we offer a twist in the character of the exhibition.

And is that "Women Lorca: Hugs" is a show that aims to share the importance of women and their crucial role in society.

But from this starting point, the exhibition aims to merge into a hug by Lorca, a hug that is synonymous with hope and bring joy to a wound Sun City from the occurrence of the tragedy of May 11.

Through art, which has always been a channel of communication of the peoples and cultures, we convey the message of Lorca, his suffering, but also the collective desire to reclaim our city.

The Lorca, united in an embrace, we will hope to these streets, but the embrace is also the foundation on which we rebuild what was lost.

Patchwork, embroidery, oil painting ... jobs a year

Lali Ibarra stated that the show "Art Woman" may contemplate until 14 March in the Garden Ruano palace in time from 11 am to 2 pm and 5-8 pm.

There are a total of 65 pieces, contributed by hundreds of women's associations around the municipality.

This exhibition is coordinated by the collective "Leisure and Culture", formed by the monitors to perform their work in courses offered by the Department.

This craft among which tiles, glass painting, patchwork, painted linen, bobbin, embroidery, acrylic and oil painting, sewing, felt and tables with sheets of paper.

"Showcases living" reclaims the role of women

As a tribute to International Day of Working Women, the City Council of Lorca is hosting a series of performances under the title "living Showcases for equality", an activity that is carried to term in coordination with the Federation of Organizations Mujeres de Lorca and Ceclor.

With the same is to carry out an activity of demands for equality for women and men starring as the scene using the windows of the shops in the city.

These performances will take place during the day today in San Jose furniture establishment, as well as the weekly market.
