The Department of Sports assists in the preparation of a study on the influence of active video games on youth sports Lorca (02/04/2012)

The findings of this analysis have been published in an academic journal specializing in the UCAM.

The work has been developed by the brothers Juan and Vicente Ignacio Beltran Carrillo.

Councilman Sports City of Lorca, Augustine Llamas, has reported that the Department of Sports, within the area of ​​training, has worked in sports research project conducted by the brothers Juan Ignacio Lorca and Vicente Carrillo Beltran and entitled: "Video assets, conventional video games and physical activity in secondary school in the town of Lorca."

In the development of the participating secondary schools: IES Ibáñez Martín, Prince of Asturias IES, IES Ramón Arcas Mecca, Giner Ros IES, IES San Juan Bosco, Mother Mercy College and Colegio San Francisco de Asis.

Councilman Sports explained that this study analyzes the use of active video games from a sample of 570 adolescents from 4 ° to ESO.

The data indicate that 86.7% of teens have ever played active video games, 53.2% own their homes in the technologies required to play this kind of games, but only 7.2% play regularly.

The results indicated that exceeds the percentage of boys and young native who has ever played active video games compared to girls and young immigrants.

These technologies are less present in the homes of immigrant pupils, although there were no differences by gender and nationality on the high percentages of teenagers who regularly play video games assets.

Studies like this are of interest to know the degree of adherence of adolescents to the latest digital entertainment that is an alternative of physical exercise in a sedentary society and technology.

Thus, the Sports Department of Lorca is still committed to training and studies to provide the highest possible scientific rigor and the actions proposed within the framework of physical activity and sport.
