This work being done during this school year, is funded by the ECSC and joins emergency action executed in the summer by the Regional Government.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, this morning visited the rehabilitation and improvement of the Colegio San Cristobal planned after the May 11 earthquake and implemented during this school year, which represent the second phase giving urgent action now to made by the regional government last summer.
Jodar explained that the work, which has a cost of 203,000 €, is being materialized by the city of Lorca through the sponsorship of the Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks (CECA) and include, among other improvements, strengthening the structure of Health camera and the foundation, which has anchored 11 meters deep to improve their seismic resistance. "After the earthquake we set to work to have a better and safer city, we can say something that has been achieved in this school, although we plan to make this summer another smaller caliber investment in another ward's educational center, "added the mayor.
The works also included the relocation of drinking water reservoir, the healthy and replacement of asphalt pavement in this area, renewal and disposal of water from rain to prevent leaks to the foundation, and the replacement of exterior walls affected by earthquakes.
The mayor said "the works have been possible combining educational activities of the center, although for operational reasons had to relocate some classrooms in other parts of the school and the kitchen is inoperative because the machinery that is required in this area ".
The center's director, Gines Diaz thanked the agility and efficiency of the work being finalized, and the collaboration of parents, students and teachers.

In addition, the mayor stressed that thanks to the cooperation agreement reached with the ECSC, over summer will proceed with actions to improve more than a dozen schools in the municipality.
