As part of celebrations to mark the "Armed Forces Day 2012," the Army units located in the Murcia region have centered their efforts on the events organized in the city of Lorca on 26 May.
The rapid and decisive intervention of these units, in response to the severe damage in the town of Lorca as a result of the earthquake registered on May 11, 2011, and the extension of this support for some weeks, has helped to increase the affection between citizens of Lorca and our Armed Forces
As a result of subsequent contacts maintained between members of the Municipal Corporation of Lorca and Antiaircraft Artillery Regiment 73 of Cartagena, the initiative to stage this mutual feeling by holding various events including include an act of Jura (or promise) to the Flag, with the standard of this Regiment next Saturday, May 26 at 11:00 am in the Plaza of Spain in the city of Lorca.
In parallel and in the Alameda of the Constitution, will install a static display of military equipment.
The Antiaircraft Artillery Regiment No. 73, an exhibition of weapons systems that have provided with the aim of showing the high operational capabilities of both material and personnel handling it.
Trying at all times to provide a modern and dynamic, while warm and close to enable the audience knows its armed forces.
Missile systems, radars, launchers, vehicles, small arms etc, on display, are technologically advanced materials that require highly trained personnel for operation and good performance.
There will also be screenings of videos to raise awareness of our daily lives, our exercises, our barracks and our history and traditions.
This exhibition will open with a flag hoisting ceremony by a section of Honor and chaired by Colonel Chief of Antiaircraft Artillery Regiment No. 73, and Military Commander of Murcia, accompanied by His Excellency Mayor of Lorca D.
Alonso Francisco Jodar, then the Colonel and the Mayor, accompanied by other civil and military authorities to visit the exhibition, by giving this opened.
At sunset (21:15 hours) will proceed to the lowering of flag, similar to lifting, thus concluding the exhibition.
The Armed Forces Day was established in 1987 to show the public the work carried out hosts, both inside and outside our borders, and encourage society to participate and meet their armed forces.
On days 1 and June 2, and Valladolid, the main events will take place in the Armed Forces Day (DIFAS 2012) that consist of a Flag Pledge of citizens, an act of homage to the flag and the fallen, and a parade of music and military music concert to be held in the city landmarks such as Valladolid Paseo de Recoletos, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de Zorrilla and the Academy of Cavalry (ACAB).
