The Councillor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Sandra Martinez, has been reported that the Municipal, within the program of events planned to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Municipal Archaeological Museum, initiates morning a cycle of two conferences in which address issues relating to findings of antiquity found in our city since the Punic Wars between the Carthaginians and Romans, and that will be developed in the Cultural Hall Cajamurcia.
The mayor explained that for the day tomorrow, Friday June 8, starting at the 20, is scheduled conference entitled "The Roman-Carthaginian militia in the third century BC."
This is a paper run by Mr.
Santiago García Lorca and D.
Pedro Huertas Sanchez, both technical archaeologists of the company "Gaia Archaeology."
The theme will focus on explaining the two types of armies that dominated much of the old and staged confrontations that marked the history.
We are talking about the Carthaginian and Roman troops.
The speakers will talk about their evolution, formation and types of weapons.
Will as an example the conquest of Carthago Nova and clashes between Roman and Carthaginian armies in the Punic Wars that took place in various parts of the Mediterranean.
Will take over on 13 June, also beginning at 20 h, the conference called "The cemetery Hispano de Lorca. Archaeological excavations at the 46 and 47 Loch Street," which will be carried to term by the archaeologist D.
Juan Antonio Ramirez Eagle, currently working as a monitor of museology Workshop of the Department of Employment of our City known as "Phoenix."
In this paper the author will present the results of preventive excavations conducted at two sites in Loch Street which are facing (the old establishment "Vitoriano" and an existing building at the junction with the street corner Albuquerque and Moncada).
Note that in the excavations of the cemetery remains were found in the XII and XIII, with individual graves and remains of three cemeteries that grouped several members (adults and children).
Some of the graves kept the lids made of plaster with a staggered so-called "macabrillas".
One of these caps, tomb belonging to a child, was removed and after its restoration was exhibited in Hall 8 of the Municipal Archaeological Museum dedicated to the Hispano culture.
In the lot No. 46, under the Islamic graves were found Roman tombs and under Iberian tombs, in one of these documented part of the iron wheels made in a car Iberian, a very important finding to be particularly exceptional .
The conference will discuss further on the types of burials, the materials that were developed the graves, the location of the graves, chronology, etc..
