Will be free for the recipients, will be held during the month of July and will include excursions to Calarreona, a camp in the shelter of Cabezo de la Jara and reading activities, entertainment, sport and health education
The Councillor for Social Services City of Lorca, Maria del Carmen Ruiz, presented the schedule included in the Summer School "Barrios Altos 2012."
Jódar Ruiz explained that this is an action that is being developed by this Department for several years with a wide participation of young people from the districts, which will be completed during the month of July.
The initiative is aimed at children from disadvantaged families living in the Barrios of San Pedro, San Juan, Santa Maria, San Lazaro gully, Calvary and St. Kitts, enrolled in schools located in these areas, as is the case of House Child, Andrés García Soler, San Cristobal and Juan Gonzalez.
The Edil of Social Services has indicated that this project is part of the activities covered prevention alternatives within the framework established in the Local Plan on Drug Addiction, and in the Comprehensive Plan for the Barrios Altos de Lorca.
For its implementation, by the City Council will work directly with a company of leisure in our city to make this the one that develops entertainment activities and training under the project.
The objectives of the Summer School "Barrios Altos 2012" are:
Prevent problems of conflict and social maladjustment.
Encourage children / girls and adolescents acquire and develop behavioral skills, emotional and social skills necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Provide alternative leisure to beneficiaries under this project.
Encourage all participants a positive attitude of partnership, respect for work as a group, local, schedules, routines for health and food hygiene.
With particular emphasis on those aspects of health education and drug prevention.
Mary Carmen Ruiz is anticipated that there will be different activities, distributed to participants in small groups to be established according to age of the participants.
Each older group will be under the supervision of a monitor, while in the case of smaller, will be attended by two monitors.
In addition there will be a general coordinator of the activity, to oversee the development of activities.
These mainly are the following:
Workshops.
Sports and leisure activities.
Education activities for health.
Tutoring and reading.
Summer Camps (10 seats).
Weekly excursion Calarreona youth hostel, with bath on the beach.
The beneficiaries of this initiative the City will be a hundred children aged between 5 and 12 years living in the neighborhoods of San Pedro, San Juan, Santa Maria, San Lazaro gully, Calvary and St. Kitts, schooled in the schools listed above.
When is this initiative?
The Summer School will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during the month of July 2012, from 10:00 to 12:30.
Summer camp offered by the company "The Mill" will be held at the Youth Hostel "Cabezo de la Jara" of Puerto Lumbreras 1 to July 10.
The 10 available places shall be addressed to children / people as suffering from mental illness, derived by the Center for Mental Health and Mental Health programs developed by ISOL and ASOFEM associations.
The Summer School will be held in facilities holding regular Public School San Cristobal, while the camps will be in the Youth Hostel "Cabezo de la Jara" of Puerto Lumbreras.
These activities are free for beneficiaries, and will be auctioned with a final party.
The school will also has a shuttle service with 55 seats, watching a city tour daily (Monday to Thursday) round trip, departure and return to San Jose neighborhood to neighborhood of San Cristobal.
The Councillor of Social Services has indicated that this activity is funded by a grant from the Department of Citizen and Drug Dependence of the Health and Social Policy for the development of drug prevention activities.
