The head of Murcia, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, chaired the signing ceremony tomorrow for a loan of 185 million euros to the Autonomous Region signed with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The event, to be held at 11:30 am at the Palacio de San Esteban de Murcia, will be attended by the Vice President of the EIB, Magdalena Alvarez, vice-president and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Autonomous Community of Murcia, Juan Bernal.
This important agreement is intended to finance the reconstruction and rehabilitation of buildings and infrastructure affected by the earthquakes in Lorca on May 11, 2011.
Thus, the EIB makes available to the Region of Murcia an amount of 185 million, which will fund the remaining work for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the city, including housing, municipal infrastructure, cultural heritage and and regional roads.
Investments of this loan meet the objectives of EU regional development support and assistance to European countries or regions affected by natural disasters to deal with its impact.
The European Investment Bank is the institution of long-term financing of the European Union whose shareholders are the member states, and provides long-term finance viable investment projects to help achieve the objectives of the policy EU.
