The Ministry of Development has invested 1 million euros in the restoration and rehabilitation of the temple
Development Undersecretary Mario Garcés and government delegate, Joaquin Bascuñana have made this evening an official visit to the Church of San Mateo de Lorca to complete the works of restoration and rehabilitation financed by the Ministry of Development in the amount of one million euros.
Garces, who was pleased to see the result of the work, said it was a great day for Lorca because the restoration of the Church of San Mateo is a clear example that the city is returning to normal, and highlighted the enormous effort by the Ministry of Development to fund all works.
Guided by the Technical Department of the project, and Bascuñana Garcés, accompanied by the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, the Minister of Public Works, Antonio Sevilla and the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Monsignor Jose Manuel Lorca Planes, made a complete tour of the temple.
During the same checked the work carried out, focusing mainly on repairing landslides large blocks of ledges and cracks in the tower, the restoration of broken decks, consolidating the huge cracks in the vaults and arches, consolidation of the main facade and even the recovery of previously hidden factories such as masonry piers and arches of the nave and side.
The technical management of the project would not undertake to give a specific date for the final opening worship, but did not hesitate to point out that it will be in a period not exceeding two months.
