Based on their findings they are working on a plan for the use of cultural heritage tourism of Lorca, in parallel to the rehabilitation
The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, the director of the Institute of Cultural Heritage of Spain (IPCE), Alfonso Muñoz and Professor Miguel Angel Troitiño, participated in the presentation of the study "Interrelation Cultural Heritage, Tourism and development of Lorca."
This study is part of the Master Plan for the Recovery of Lorca, which includes the proposal to carry out proposals for action at regional, urban, heritage and tourism to respond specifically to the needs of the tourism sector and contribute in Lorca, Thus, the economic development of the municipality.
Based on the findings of this study, conducted by the public company LORCATUR (Lorca Workshop of Time) in collaboration with the research group of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid "Tourism, Heritage and Development", under the technical supervision and financing of IPCE, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and the City of Lorca working on developing a plan for tourism use of the cultural heritage of this town.
This Plan was developed in coordination with the rehabilitation works of Lorca and its value after the damage by the earthquake of 2011.
